What size wafer does Active use?

A:

Most of our products are 8-inch wafers, and some are 12-inch wafers.


Q:

How to identify the Active product Date Code?

A:

Usually, for Active-Semi products, the Date Code is 5 characters: SYWWN - S is the packaging and testing plant code, Y is the year code, WW is the week number, and N is the production serial number of the week. Through special coding rules, we can track the production batch number and related production information from the Date Code.


SOT23 and other packaging forms are too small to meet printing requirements, so a coding method similar to Morse code is used, and each batch of products has a unique code.


Q:

During small-batch trial production, if the purchased chips are not vacuum-packed, can they be directly mounted on the board or do they need to be baked?

A:

All products are vacuum packed, including samples.


In case of vacuum damage, MSL 3 products need to be baked at 125°C for 12 hours. For detailed operation, refer to AN115.


Q:

What precautions should be taken when applying Active products? What are the requirements for product storage conditions (humidity level)? Are there any guidance documents?

A:

The patch of the product is related to the package type of the product. For the package types of QFN and WLCSP, please refer to the relevant application guidance documents.


All our products are shipped in vacuum packaging. Therefore, after receiving the goods, if the customer finds that the outer packaging is damaged, he should check whether the inner vacuum packaging is damaged. If the packaging is damaged, it cannot be used directly.


For the use of MSL3 products, please refer to "AN115 MSL3 Moisture Sensitivity IC Handling Guidelines".


Q:

What is the warranty period for Active products? How do I start calculating the warranty period?

A:

Strictly speaking, the warranty period actually includes two different concepts, which are easy to confuse. The first is about the quality of the product, and the second is about the reliability of the product.


About product quality: 1) We promise and guarantee that the product storage life is 5 years. That is to say, starting from the time the product leaves the factory, under vacuum packaging and normal storage conditions (30°C/60% (RH)), within 5 years, we ensure that the product is put on the board and there will be no quality and reliability problems. 2) Product use deadline: All our products have undergone 100% electrical performance testing and appearance inspection before leaving the factory. Therefore, for some characteristics that change during customer use, we can only ensure that they will be used until the customer puts them on the board. For example, appearance damage after use. 3) Damage caused by improper use is not within the scope of quality commitment, such as: overvoltage/static damage beyond product characteristics; moisture damage caused by improper baking; product rework, etc.


About product reliability: Our products have undergone strict reliability testing in accordance with the requirements of relevant industry standards before mass production. There is no clear time definition for reliability at present. If any problems occur during the use of the product under normal conditions, we can assist customers in relevant failure analysis.


Q:

What is the ESD level of Active products? Where can I find it?

A:

All our products have been tested by standard HBM and CDM mode ESD tests. The ESD test level of each product can be found in the datasheet. If you are not sure, you can also consult QRA.


Q:

How to update Active's product process change notification (PCN) to customers in a timely manner?

A:

Active-Semi's PCN control is defined by the procedure document "PROC-36 Active-Semi Product or Process Change Control Notification Procedure".


The control of PCN is based on the basic requirements of JEDEC document J-STD-046.


Ordinary PCNs will notify customers 90 days in advance, and customers need to decide whether to accept the change within 30 days.


Product discontinuation changes will be notified one year in advance, and new orders will be stopped six months in advance.

A:
