NXP Semiconductors announced the launch of new MCU products KW39/38/37 in the KW3x microcontroller (MCU) series . KW39/38/37 adds features such as Bluetooth 5.0 long-distance transmission and Bluetooth broadcast channel expansion. While supporting all new features of low-power Bluetooth 5.0, it achieves seamless migration with the previous generation products KW34/35/36 in terms of hardware, software and tool compatibility.

Low-power Bluetooth products designed with this MCU can support data communications over a distance greater than one mile, and increase the number of Bluetooth broadcast channels to achieve data broadcasting that complies with Bluetooth standards and mainstream IoT protocols. KW39/38/37 wireless MCUs provide developers with solutions for emerging applications in the digitalization of the automotive and industrial fields .

The hardware and software of the KW39/38/37 wireless MCU are designed according to automotive and industrial standards and integrate CAN-FD peripherals with stable communication functions. This series is very suitable for applications in the automotive industry, such as keyless entry, sensors, and wireless on-board diagnostic functions. In addition, it can also realize a variety of industrial applications, such as building control and monitoring, fire protection and security, home and institutional healthcare, asset management and monitoring, and various other industrial applications.

The KW39/38/37 series has first-class RF performance and excellent receiving sensitivity, which can achieve long-range low-power Bluetooth connections. For example, with a receiving sensitivity of 105 dBm and a rate of 125 kbits/s LE coding mode, Bluetooth connections in harsh environments and longer distances can be achieved. In addition, the RF can easily support 8 secure connections in any master/slave combination at the same time, allowing multiple authorized users to communicate with the device. The data stream buffer of this series of MCUs innovatively enables the capture of RF parameters without pausing the processor or DMA, making the high-precision measurements required for distance and angle estimation possible.

NXP's MCUXpresso tool suite uses a certified low-power Bluetooth protocol stack and supports application programming interface calls. The new KW39/38/37 MCU is compatible with the previous generation of products in hardware and software, shortening the design cycle. In addition, the KW38 MCU integrates FlexCAN, which can be seamlessly integrated into the industrial CAN communication network or the vehicle's in-vehicle network. The FlexCAN module can support CAN's flexible data transmission rate (CAN FD) to achieve higher bandwidth and lower latency.

KW39/38/37 Features at a Glance
