Dr. Su Hua, President of Infineon Technologies Greater China: Keep moving forward
At the 2022 China Nansha International Integrated Circuit Industry Forum , Dr. Su Hua, Global Senior Vice President and President of Greater China of Infineon Technologies, delivered a keynote speech and said: " Digitalization and low carbonization are the only way for our future . Low carbonization can reduce carbon dioxide emissions through renewable energy or efficient electrical systems, thereby reducing costs; digitalization can improve efficiency and improve daily life, and will also derive more needs for new lifestyles. As a world-leading semiconductor technology company, we build a bridge between reality and digital and work hard to build a better future."

Embrace change and go with the flow
Since 2020, chip shortages have brought great supply chain pressure to many technology companies and automakers around the world. To this end, Infineon's three major factories around the world are fully expanding production:
Villach, Austria: Infineon's new fully automated 300mm thin wafer chip factory in Villach, Austria, officially went into production in September 2021, and was combined with Infineon's Dresden factory to form a highly efficient 300mm integrated power semiconductor virtual factory;
Kulim, Malaysia : Investing more than 2 billion euros to build a new plant in Kulim, Malaysia to produce silicon carbide and gallium nitride power semiconductor products, further expanding the production capacity of wide bandgap semiconductors. The first batch of wafers will be shipped in the second half of 2024;
Wuxi, China : The IGBT production line is continuously expanding and will become Infineon's largest IGBT production base in the world after reaching full capacity. It has also established the first automotive-grade IGBT module packaging line in China in a joint venture with SAIC.
Looking to the future and seizing opportunities
Currently, the focus of global macro trends and market environment is mainly on demographic and social changes, climate change and resource scarcity, urbanization and digital transformation . The continuously growing world population, expanding metropolises and rapidly rising energy demand are all prompting the public to re-examine the modern lifestyle.
Dr. Su Hua said: "Various application scenarios in real life, including smart life, smart cities, etc., can be transmitted to the digital world through our chips and solutions. Through the blessing of big data and algorithms, it can be transformed into useful information and then transmitted back to the real world to empower our life scenarios. We will mainly focus on the three major areas of future travel, Internet of Things and energy efficiency to create a better life for everyone."
In terms of decarbonization and digitalization , Greater China has taken a leading position in many markets through forward-looking planning and construction:
In the field of automotive semiconductor products, Infineon, as the world's leading automotive semiconductor supplier , has a market share of more than 12.7% , and uses a wide range of product portfolios to create system-level solutions to meet various needs. In addition to well-known power semiconductors, in terms of microcontrollers, Infineon's TRAVEO ™ , PSoC ™ , and AURIX ™ series all have excellent market performance.
"No car, no intelligence". From the perspective of automobile electrification, powertrain is very important. In this regard, power semiconductors are indispensable . Taking the average semiconductor content of $800 per car as an example, 40% of it is power semiconductors, which is about $300 . Infineon's HybridPACK™ Drive products are used in many automobile platforms and can provide different versions of silicon and silicon carbide to meet the requirements of different technical routes of car manufacturers.
In short, according to the different needs of automotive customers, Infineon can provide a variety of solutions to comprehensively optimize the range, size, cost, etc. The front axle can be driven by IGBT to optimize the cost; the rear axle can use silicon carbide solutions to extend the range...
Compete for the world, faster and stronger
As a world-leading semiconductor company, Infineon is not only making every effort in investment and capacity optimization, but also shouldering the mission of improving localized application development capabilities . At the beginning of 2021, Infineon Greater China established the "Smart Application Competence Center" in Shenzhen and formed application system solution teams in Shanghai, Taipei, Hong Kong and other places, focusing on various local applications and achieving efficient connection with the terminal market. This layout has achieved fruitful results and has been widely praised by customers. In the future, Infineon will form more application system solution teams in more target market industry concentrations to provide customers with better, more comprehensive, customized and innovative services.
Keep improving
In fiscal year 2021 , through win-win efforts with customers and partners, Infineon's global revenue reached 11.06 billion euros , a year-on-year increase of 29% ; it is expected that revenue in fiscal year 2022 will reach a higher level, reaching 13.5 billion euros (± 500 million euros).
In the future, Infineon will continue to adopt an open and cooperative attitude, continuously deepen cooperation with various partners in the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain, establish a local ecosystem with global service capabilities, and make our lives more convenient, safer and more environmentally friendly .
