Remember these two methods to easily determine the axis direction of the acceleration sensor
Q: How to determine the direction of the accelerometer ?
Keywords: single chip microcomputer /MCU
Accelerometers are commonly used electronic components for measuring acceleration. They can be used to detect changes in force due to falling, tilting, movement, positioning, vibration, and shock. When installing an accelerometer, it can sometimes be difficult to determine the correct sensing axis direction of the accelerometer. The following tips should help you determine its axis direction .
1) Find the sensing direction from the data sheet
For example, the data sheet for the Analog Devices ADXL344 accelerometer shows the sensing directions of the X, Y, and Z axes in the package through the pinout of the actual component. If you know where pin 1 is, you can find the location of the sensing axis on the sensor from the data sheet.
2) Check the output with gravity
Typically, an accelerometer has an output response when sensing gravity, including the Earth's gravity.
We can identify each sensing axis on the accelerometer by examining the different output responses of the actual chip to the earth's gravity in different directions .
