Abstract: In the field of embedded systems, low-speed synchronous serial buses are widely used, and PCs cannot directly access these buses. This paper introduces a universal adapter for USB to synchronous serial protocol conversion, which is used to access devices with serial synchronous bus interfaces. The hardware circuit, related transmission protocols, timing analysis, and CPLD programming of the universal adapter are discussed. The general steps of how to write a program to control the universal adapter are described, as well as the general method of realizing USB to JTAG and SPI protocol conversion. Finally, the universal adapter is used to access a SPI interface 4-wire touch screen controller. The universal adapter provides a flexible, convenient, and powerful tool for embedded development.
