In order to perform image retrieval more effectively and accurately, a method combining fractal coding for content-based image retrieval is proposed based on the convergence rate theory of iterated function systems and the collage theorem. That is, the fractal code of the query image is applied to the images in the image library for fractal iteration, and then the obtained image is similarly matched with the query image. In terms of retrieval accuracy and retrieval speed, it is superior to other methods in the experiment. The experiment proves the effectiveness and feasibility of the algorithm. The fractal codes of the query image is applied and iterated on the images in the database. The iterated image is matched with the query image. The proposed method is better than other methods in accuracy and speed. The experiments show that the proposed method is effective and feasible.【Key words】 Fractal Coding; Iterative Function System; Content-based Image Retrieval
