Overview The MCP1802 series is a low dropout (LDO) regulator manufactured using CMOS technology. It can provide up to 300 mA of current while its quiescent current is only 25 μA (typical). Its input voltage range is 2.0V to 10.0V, making it particularly suitable for applications powered by two or six disposable batteries, 9V alkaline batteries, and one or two lithium-ion batteries. The MCP1802 can provide 100 mA of current with an input-output voltage difference (VOUT = 3.0V) of only 200 mV (typical). The output voltage tolerance of the MCP1802 is typically ±0.4% at +25°C and a maximum of ±2%. The linear regulation is typically ±0.01% at +25°C. The LDO output can be stabilized with a minimum output capacitor of 1 μF. Ceramic capacitors, tantalum capacitors, or aluminum electrolytic capacitors can be used as input and output capacitors. Overcurrent limiting and current feedback provide short-circuit protection. A shutdown (SHDN) function enables or disables the output. When disabled, the MCP1802 draws only 0.01 μA (typical). The MCP1802 is available in a SOT-23-5 package.
