Implementation of 840D machining center control scheme based on PLC: This paper discusses and analyzes the implementation of CNC machining center control system based on 840D and PLC. It focuses on PLC control of indexing head, PLC control of multiple spindles, and PLC recognition and selection of tools in tool magazine. Keywords: PLC; machining center; control system; Compared with general CNC machine tools, 840D CNC machining center has an automatic tool changer (ATC) composed of tool magazine and manipulator, which enables the workpiece to complete most or even all processes in one clamping, thus greatly reducing the auxiliary time of loading and unloading workpieces and tool changing. At the same time, it eliminates the positioning error caused by multiple clamping, and can achieve high-precision, high-rate and highly automated processing more than general CNC machine tools. Indexing head control, multi-spindle control, and tool recognition and selection in CNC machining center control are key parts that affect the stability of machining center working performance and machining accuracy. The dividing head is a device installed on the spindle, which controls the different turning angles on the vertical and inclined surfaces, the processing in different directions, and the accuracy of the robot inserting and removing the tool. The ATC automatically selects the tool by transferring the required tool from the tool magazine to the tool removal position according to the tool selection instruction of the CNC system; then the robot takes out the tool from the tool magazine and the spindle, exchanges the tool, installs the new tool into the spindle, and puts the used old tool back into the tool magazine. Different tools involve multiple controls on the processing spindles, and the stability of multi-spindle control is the basis for ensuring the correct operation and precise positioning of the machining center.
