The LTC2956 is an electronic wake-up timer that meets the needs of a variety of applications that require delayed or periodic wake-up. When counting down in sleep mode, current consumption is minimized to only 800nA, and further reduced to 300nA when the timer is not running at all. Because all timing adjustments are made through external capacitors and resistors, no coding is required. A rugged push-button interface allows the user to bypass the timer and turn the system on or off on command. Four I/O signals can be used to connect a microprocessor or FPGA in an active system, while the adjustable ONMAX timer can also be used to implement a passive system (or as an automatic fail-safe mechanism to implement an active system). The LTC2956 uses 12-lead 3mm x 3mmQFN and MSOP packages, and is a space-conscious IC that simplifies and optimizes designs with special timing requirements.
