According to the IEC 60950 standard, the maximum working voltage of an isolation system depends on several parameters, including creepage distance, pollution degree, and material category. The pollution degree is a measure of surface contamination and is set by the system with a typical value of 2, but creepage distance and material category depend on the materials used in isolation components such as digital isolators and optocouplers. Table 1, from IEC 60950, shows the relationship between these parameters.
