A belt-wound high-voltage pulse transformer for charging pulse forming wires: A hollow-core belt-wound pulse transformer with a coupling coefficient of 0.8 and a secondary output voltage of 500 kV was developed, and preliminary theoretical and experimental studies were conducted. This transformer has the advantages of compact structure, small size and good electrical performance, and has been used as a step-up transformer to charge the water-medium Blumlein wire of the pulse modulator. High-voltage pulses of 450 kV, 40 kA and a half-height pulse width greater than 80 ns have been obtained on the vacuum diode of the modulator.
