Comparison of the advantages and disadvantages of low-side and high-side current sensing Introduction: There are two basic methods for current sensing, either measuring the magnetic field of the current-carrying conductor or inserting a small resistor in the current loop and measuring the voltage drop across it. The first method does not force the insertion of components or introduce insertion losses, but it is relatively expensive and prone to nonlinearity and temperature coefficient errors. Therefore, although magnetic field detection avoids insertion losses, it is greatly limited in specific applications due to its high cost. This article mainly discusses the feasibility of resistor detection technology in the semiconductor industry.
