The AD8217 is a high voltage, high resolution current shunt amplifier. The gain is set to 20 V/V, with a maximum gain error of ±0.35% over the entire temperature range. The buffered output voltage allows direct interface with any typical converter. The AD8217 offers excellent common-mode rejection from 4.5 V to 80 V and has an internal LDO that powers the device directly from the high voltage rail. Therefore, no other power supply is required as long as the input common-mode range is 4.5 V to 80 V. The AD8217 performs unidirectional current measurement across a shunt resistor and is suitable for a variety of industrial and telecommunications applications, including motor control, battery management, and base station power amplifier bias control. The AD8217 offers breakthrough performance over the entire temperature range of −40°C to +125°C. It uses a zero-drift core with a typical offset drift of ±100 nV/°C over the entire operating temperature range and common-mode voltage range. Special attention has been paid to the device design to maintain linear output over the entire input differential voltage range of 0 mV to 250 mV, regardless of the presence of common-mode voltage; the input offset voltage is typically ±100 μV.
