Abstract: In order to make the switching power supply safe and reliable in harsh environments and sudden fault conditions, several practical protection circuits are proposed, and the working principles of the circuits are analyzed in detail. Keywords: switching power supply; protection circuit; reliability 1 Introduction The quality indicators for evaluating switching power supplies should be based on safety and reliability as the first principle. Under the condition that the electrical technical indicators meet the normal use requirements, in order to make the power supply work safely and reliably in harsh environments and sudden fault conditions, a variety of protection circuits must be designed, such as surge protection soft start, overvoltage, undervoltage, overheating, overcurrent, short circuit, lack of phase and other protection circuits. 2 Several commonly used protection circuits for switching power supplies
