H.264 intra-frame coding reduces the size of transform coding input values through spatial prediction and improves coding compression performance. Since block coding is always in the order from left to right and from top to bottom, the optional reference pixels for intra-frame prediction are limited to the left and top of the block, so the prediction result is not ideal. This paper proposes an Intra 4×4 prediction coding algorithm based on flexible sub-block coding order within the macroblock, which adaptively selects the best prediction reference pixel set and improves the spatial prediction mode. Through limited sub-block grouping and sub-block order selection, the optimization of intra-macroblock coding can be achieved. Simulation experiments show that compared with H.264, the algorithm can achieve an average PSNR coding performance gain of 0.4 dB.
