150-300MHz frequency multiplier composed of MC1596

As shown in the figure, this is a 150-300MHz frequency multiplication circuit. The circuit uses the MC1596 balanced modulator/demodulator integrated circuit. Its input frequency is 150MHz, and the output frequency generated is 300MHz. The MC1596 has two frequency input terminals (pin 1 and pin 4), and the same 150MHz input is added to the two input terminals. Adjusting the 50kΩ potentiometer can make the two input terminals receive equal signal levels. Adjusting two 1-10pF variable capacitors can make the output frequency strictly twice the input frequency and minimize waveform distortion. The input impedance and output impedance are approximately 50Ω, the typical value of the input signal level is 100mVrms (root mean square value), and the output is about 15mVrms.
