ON Semiconductor's NCP 3065/NCP3066 is a multi-mode LED controller that integrates a 1.5A switch and can be set to buck, boost, inverting (buck-boost), single-ended primary inductance converter (SEPIC) and other topologies. The input voltage range of NCP3065 /NCP3066 is 3.0~40V, has a low feedback voltage of 235mV, and the operating frequency is adjustable, up to 250kHz. Other features of the NCP3065/NCP3066 include: cycle-by-cycle current limiting, no need for control loop compensation, ceramic output capacitors available, analog and digital PWM dimming capabilities, internal thermal shutdown when hysteresis occurs, etc. The circuit using NCP3065/NCP3066 to drive LED is shown in the figure.
