Many people know about positioning, but what do you know about GNSS? June 18, 2019 - STMicroelectronics has added a new addition to its GNSS product family. The new product Teseo-LIV3R is a highly competitively priced ROM-based positioning device. module, bringing ST’s complete GNSS algorithm capabilities to cost-sensitive tracking and navigation devices.
STMicroelectronics’ new GNSS module features odometer and geofencing capabilities. Odometer includes three short mileage counters and distance traveled notification features; geofencing includes up to eight configurable fences and cross-fence entry and exit notification features. The new product supports server access to free real-time auxiliary GNSS technology to ensure that high-reliability navigation applications will not suffer from positioning data interruption problems.
Simultaneously tracking the four major navigation satellite systems of GPS, Glonass, Beidou and QZSS, combined with the satellite-based augmentation system (S-BAS) and RTCM1V3.1 differential positioning system, the new module ensures that the positioning accuracy of navigation equipment is within 1.5 meters (50% CEP2 ), this result is outstanding. The tracking sensitivity is -163dBm and the first positioning time is less than 1 second, ensuring high performance for demanding navigation applications. The new module is easy to integrate and supports NMEA3 proprietary commands.
Teseo-LIV3R is the best choice for battery-sensitive applications. It can adjust and optimize power consumption according to positioning accuracy, average current and positioning frequency. When RTC backup is turned on, the standby mode power consumption is less than 15µA and supports multiple low-power consumption modes. Low-power modes include adaptive and energy-saving periodic continuous positioning, GPS-only interval positioning, and on-demand positioning where the device is permanently on standby.
To simplify and speed up new product development, the module is FCC certified and supports the STM32 open development environment. There are advanced geo-positioning, intelligent tracking and server-assisted GNSS application software in the STM32 ecosystem. In terms of hardware, the EVB-LIV3x evaluation board and X-NUCLEO-GNSS1A1 expansion board allow developers to take the lead and be one step ahead. Teseo Suite PC tools help developers easily configure and tune performance. Developers can also join the ST GNSS community to share information and increase their understanding of the field. The above is the relevant introduction to GNSS, I hope it will be helpful to designers.
