Inductor materials for power factor correction [Copy link]

Abstract: This paper introduces the characteristics and selection of inductor materials used in passive and active power factor correction. Switching power supplies (hard switching mode) have now become practical and commercialized, and their outstanding advantages of high efficiency, small size and light weight have been recognized by people. However, the negative effects must not be ignored. Since the input current on the grid side of the uncontrolled rectification mode is a non-sinusoidal periodic current, the AC/DC converter will inject a large amount of high-order harmonics into the grid when it is put into operation. Therefore, the power factor on the grid side is not high, only about 0.6, and it causes serious harmonic pollution and interference to the grid and other electrical equipment. In the three-phase four-wire power supply mode, due to the superposition of multiple harmonic components, the neutral current increases, which is a very thorny problem. Nowadays, computer power supplies, UPS, programmable switch power supplies, welding machine power supplies, electronic ballasts, etc. have long been high-frequency switching, and their pollution to the power grid has reached a level that must be controlled. Therefore, power factor correction technology is becoming a hot spot and will become the key for merchants to enter the market.
