Silicon Laboratories today announced the C8051F332 series of microcontrollers, further strengthening its leading small mixed-signal microcontroller product line. The four new devices (C8051F332/3/4/5) offer different program spaces and are fully pin-compatible with Silicon Laboratories' popular small microcontrollers, the C8051F330/1. Silicon Laboratories leads the industry in small, high-performance mixed-signal microcontrollers that offer more features than any other microcontroller on the market in a small package. Silicon Laboratories
developed the C8051F33x series based on the high-speed pipelined 8051 core. These highly integrated devices combine 25 MIPS of computing performance, 2 to 8 kB of flash memory and 768 B of RAM into a small 4 × 4 cm package, and do not require external components such as a quartz oscillator, making them ideal for space-constrained, low-power consumer, industrial and communications applications.
The C8051F33x has rich built-in functions, such as a 10-bit 200 ksps analog-to-digital converter, temperature sensor, voltage reference and comparator. The C8051F33x series also has two built-in 2% accurate oscillators (high speed 24.5M Hz; low speed 80K Hz), which eliminates the need for external quartz crystals or resonators in application design. The microcontroller also provides a variety of serial communication interfaces, including UART, SMBus? and SPI? bus serial ports.
Derrell Coker, vice president of Silicon Laboratories, said: "Silicon Laboratories mixed-signal microcontroller products are most suitable for various applications that require limited space and powerful functions. Our new microcontrollers are like our other small components, not only are the size greatly reduced, but the performance is not affected at all."
The C8051F33x has a built-in two-wire debugging circuit that can provide non-intrusive, full-speed in-system debugging functions for product components before and after installation without the need for an emulator. C8051F33x, like all other Silicon Laboratories microcontroller products, enjoys complete and low-cost professional development kit support, including integrated development environment, target circuit board, cables and power supply, so that engineers can start design work immediately.
Pricing and supply schedule
C8051F332 adopts 20-pin QFN package, and the unit price of 10,000 units starts at US$1.38, and the unit price of the development kit is US$99.
