Infineon remains the second largest player in automotive electronics, with its market share gradually increasing [Copy link]

In 2005, Infineon's automotive electronics business achieved an 11.9% sales growth, once again surpassing the 7.5% growth of the global market (total market value of $16.4 billion). Data comes from market research company Strategy Analytics. The agency pointed out that Infineon's sales revenue in the automotive electronics market increased from $1.363 billion in 2004 to $1.525 billion, accounting for 9.3% of the global market share, further consolidating its second place in the world. In 2004, Infineon's automotive electronics business accounted for 9% of the global market share, ranking second to Freescale.

In Europe, Infineon ranks first with a market share of 14.8%. In the United States, Infineon ranks among the top three, with a market share of 7.9%. In the demanding Japanese automotive market, Infineon ranks sixth, becoming the leading foreign supplier in the Japanese market.

Peter Bauer, head of the Automotive, Industrial and Diversified Electronics market division and member of the management board of Infineon Technologies, attributes the division's success to "focus on automotive applications and requirements, a broad portfolio of high-quality, innovative products and outstanding technological expertise." Infineon supplies sensors, microcontrollers and power semiconductors to the automotive industry. It is said that on average, about 24 devices from Infineon are found in every new car in the world.

Peter Bauer said that in the United States, the growth of Infineon's automotive electronics business exceeded the industry average, one of the reasons being: the introduction of new regulations on improving safety and better controlling automobile emissions. He pointed out that Infineon maintains a leading position in both fields. For example, according to new safety regulations, more and more new cars will be equipped with tire pressure sensor systems in the next few years, and Infineon is the global market leader in this field. At the same time, the new regulations' focus on emissions and efficiency will provide new business opportunities for Infineon's excellent intelligent engine management chips. Infineon's intelligent engine management chips can ensure that the oil-gas mixture is always properly balanced, while optimizing fuel injection and ignition timing for each cylinder. For example, the latest 32-bit AUDO-NG series microcontrollers can reduce fuel consumption by about 15% compared with previous products.
