How did the Lebanese BB machine explode? [Copy link]

At 3:30 pm on September 17, a shocking handheld pager explosion occurred in Lebanon, killing 9 people and injuring 2,800 people, 200 of whom were in critical condition. This incident quickly attracted global attention, and the statement of the Lebanese Minister of Public Health shocked the public, especially when the New York Times revealed more shocking details. According to the report, Israel actually carried out the attack by secretly implanting explosives into pagers purchased by the Lebanese Hezbollah armed forces. (From Sohu)

In the terrorist attack in Lebanon, thousands of BB machines were detonated by remote control. I don't understand how they were blown up. Directly detonating the battery wouldn't have such a strong effect. How could a bomb be stuffed into such a small consumer electronic device?

Besides, this BB machine has been sold in so many places, why did it explode in Lebanon? ? Is it controlled by the Internet? ?

From the structure of the pager, the internal structure is mainly composed of antenna, RF module, baseband module, power module and shell. The antenna is responsible for receiving and sending signals, and is the bridge for the pager to communicate with the outside world; the RF module is responsible for transmitting and receiving high-frequency signals, and is the key to its wireless communication; the baseband module is responsible for signal processing and analysis, converting the received radio signals into recognizable information; the power module provides power support for the entire device; and the shell plays a role in protecting and fixing the internal components.

Regarding the method of the attack, the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation and Channel 12 and other media, citing the analysis of relevant professionals, believe that the explosion may have been caused by the following methods:
One is to place explosives in the pager in advance: The New York Times quoted officials from the United States and other countries who are familiar with Israel's operation as saying that a small amount of explosives, weighing about one to two ounces, was implanted next to the battery of each pager, and a remote control device was also implanted to remotely trigger the detonation of the explosives.

The other is through hacking methods, such as implanting a virus into the pager, causing the device to operate abnormally, resulting in overheating, overload, etc., ultimately causing its lithium battery to short-circuit or overload, thereby causing an explosion.

Security experts who have studied the video of the pager explosion said that the intensity and speed of the explosion were obviously caused by an explosive. Mikko Hipponen, a cybercrime consultant at Europol, said: "These pagers are likely to have been modified in some way to cause such explosions - the scale and intensity of the explosions show that the cause is not just the battery." Because pagers are usually worn around the waist, which is a relatively vulnerable part of the human body, although the power of the explosion may not be great, in reality it can cause serious harm to the human body... It is said to be military-grade high explosive, 20 grams of which can be fatal.

Brother... Supply chain security is so important... Israel has implanted it in advance (targeting the Lebanese indiscriminately), and its intentions are despicable.  Details Published on 2024-9-20 09:19

Next time you see someone holding an iPhone or driving a Tesla, it’s best to stay away from them. My god, they are mobile bombs.

This feels like it was just to confuse people. They probably made some bombs disguised as pagers. Otherwise, how could it be so powerful?

I saw in the news that it was a pager. To prevent being tracked, the pager only receives signals but does not send them.  Details Published on 2024-9-20 09:52

If it is remote controlled, then their technology is really amazing, but how did they distribute more than 2,000 units?

Apple phones are made in the United States. Could there be a backdoor? Could Apple remotely activate a command and then the BMS of the iPhone fail, causing the lithium battery in the phone to overheat and explode?

I was quite surprised when I saw this news. Is the poor signal abroad due to insufficient transmitter construction? Or is there some other reason?  Details Published on 2024-9-20 10:08

Either it was hacker technology, or the explosives were originally placed. Just thinking about it makes me feel that there are hidden dangers that have not exploded.

Taiwan's Apollo Gold should not be the culprit. This kind of premeditated

I think it's a specially made imitation of a BB bomb.

A few grams of high explosives are very powerful. For example, C4 can be squeezed into the shape of a capacitor like chewing gum and put into a BB machine. Once detonated, the BB machine can become a grenade.
