How do you calculate the power of resistor R84 in this step-down circuit?

The circuit parameters are DC input 24V, output DC12V, current 450mA

It can be used, but it depends on which device the circuit parameters correspond to. Generally, the power consumption tools of each peripheral device may not be calculated, so you need to verify it yourself   Details Published on 2024-7-19 16:24

【DC input 24V, output DC12V, current 450mA】

Then the input current (effective value, not average value) is estimated to be 350mA. (0.35^2)*0.3=0.037(W).

MC34063 is a very early chip

The chip has a peak current limit

By using the output current to reverse the input current, the maximum current can be obtained.

The maximum current can be used to calculate the power consumption. If the requirements are strict, the effective power or average power can be used.
