TARGET3001! How to use - How to import Altium files into TARGET [Copy link]

Some time ago, I wrote an article about how to use TARGET 3001! to make a two-layer circuit board. Friends who are interested can click on my homepage or the link below to take a look.
https://en.eeworld.com/bbs/thread-1273599-1-1.html (How to use TARGET 3001! to make a two-layer circuit board (attached: operation steps))

Recently, someone asked me if this software can import Altium files, because their company uses Altium Designer. If the project files in AD can be directly imported into TARGET, it will be much more convenient. This is also what I am concerned about. If the files made in AD can be directly imported into this software, it will indeed bring us a lot of convenience. After understanding some information, I will roughly talk about how to import Altium files into TARGET 3001!, so after using it for a while, you will find that it is indeed a very cost-effective EDA software!

① First, save the Altium Designer schematic as a .SchDoc file (AD schematic interface: click File-->Save As...), and then export the corresponding PCB file as an ASCII code file (AD-PCB page: click File-->Save As...).

-->Export-->Protel PCB 2.8 ASCII). Since I am using a pirated AD here, I will not take screenshots of the operation steps. Let's just look at the exported results.

②Open TARGET software, create a new file and enter the schematic interface. First, import the Altium schematic file into TARGET, click File-->Eagle, Altium, Protel-->Load SchDoc ASCIl (Altium /Protel)...

Click on the schematic exported from Altium here and open it.

Then you can see that the Altium schematic file is successfully imported into TARGET 3001!, basically achieving non-discriminatory import.

③The second step is to import Altium's PCB file into TARGET. Here, go to the PCB page first and click the corresponding icon in the upper toolbar.

Coming to the PCB page, if we want to import Altium's PCB file, we need to convert it first. The main purpose of the conversion here is to convert Altium's PCB file into an ASCII file that can be read by TARGET 3001!. Click File-->Input/Output Formats-->Data exchange/documentation-->ASCII Interface (Text, Eagle, Protel)...

Click Open in the pop-up window to enter the file selection page.

Note that you need to select the file format as ProtelPCBText *.PCB here, otherwise you will not be able to see the PCB file exported from Altium. Then click on the .pcb file to open it.

Go back to the pop-up page again and click Covert to convert the file.

Enter the file saving page, here we choose a suitable location to save the file, note that the saved format is .T3001 (the framed part), and finally click Save.

In the new pop-up window, I choose Mechanical 1. Since there is only the Mechanical layer available, we should try to put the board frame in the Mechanical layer in the PCB in Altium Designer. Otherwise, there will be no other layers to choose from. When you import the Altium PCB file into TARGET, there will be no board frame! Finally, click OK.

After the conversion is completed, we can see "Conversion Successfully Executed!" (the boxed part), and finally click Close.

Go back to the PCB page and prepare to open the .T3001 file we just converted. Click File-->Open Project...

Go to the file selection page, click the .T3001 file, and then open it.

As shown in the figure below, the PCB file output by Altium Designer is successfully opened in TARGET 3001!. It can be found that except for the misalignment of some silk screens (the silk screens can be adjusted by the guides when moving), everything else is fine and basically restored perfectly.

④Finally, we can take a look at the 3D view. It is obvious that the overall appearance and outline are basically consistent. If the corresponding components, packages and 3D models are saved in the TARGET component library, perfect replication can definitely be achieved.

Well, the above content is how to import Altium files into TARGET 3001!, so the schematics and PCB designed with Altium Designer can be imported into TARGET 3001!.

I will continue to share some operations or other usage tips of TARGET software in the future, thank you! (If you need to try the software, please go to the official website ( www.ibfriedrich.com.cn ) to fill in the information)
