Tesla plans to reduce silicon carbide usage by 75%, but the big guys don’t agree. Will the SiC market production increase plan be suspended? [Copy link]

Silicon carbide power devices have obvious advantages in many aspects such as power density, heat dissipation performance, reliability and size, but they are expensive.

I finally got a chance to buy electric cars, but people don't seem to want to play with them:

On March 1, local time in the United States, Tesla stated at its investor conference that Tesla's next-generation powertrain will reduce the use of silicon carbide by 75%, reduce floor space by 50%, and the total cost will be reduced by $1,000 compared to the current generation.

Let’s take a look at the SiC growth plans of the following semiconductor industry leaders. Do they also need to reconsider their plans?

But I am also curious about how Tesla can achieve a 75% reduction in silicon carbide usage. If it is a makeshift solution simply to save costs, then I would give a bad review of this behavior.

If there is really a higher technology, I am looking forward to it~

"If the solution is made up simply to save costs, then this behavior is not good." - Cost saving is certain, this is Musk's consistent style. As for "making do", have you ever seen Musk "make do" in any business? If you think so, why not give an example.

Power semiconductor technology is also constantly developing, and SiC is not the only option. Pursuing lower system costs while meeting application requirements is the primary mission of excellent engineers. Musk's team is constantly innovating and iterating in this regard to achieve perfection.
