TO92S enclosed 3-pin direct plug-in components have a pin spacing of only 0.45mm. Occasionally, a short circuit will occur between the two pins after welding. Is there any trick to solve this problem? The specific dimensions are shown in the figure below

This distance is wide enough.   Details Published on 2022-7-26 08:47

"The pin spacing is only 0.45mm"

That's not right? The pin pitch is the distance between the center lines of the two pins, and your picture says it's 1.27mm (0.05 inch).

The distance between the two pin edges is not 0.45mm, it should be at least 0.8mm.

The 0.45mm you refer to may be the distance from the edge of the pad.

I read it wrong. The pin width is 0.45mm and the pin center spacing is 1.27mm.  Details Published on 2022-7-25 17:49

You can try changing the pad to an oval shape, which can increase the spacing between pads.

This package is very common and old. If there is a short circuit between the pads, it means that the pad size is not selected correctly and the welding process is poor. Using an oval pad of appropriate size can reduce the requirements for the welding process.

It's mainly a question of welding power. It depends on whether the ground pin is well welded.
