Is your company greatly affected by the chip shortage? How do you deal with it? [Copy link]

Yesterday, a colleague shared a picture, which roughly meant that because of the shortage of chips, everyone started to redesign the products that have been used for the past decade.

Is your company greatly affected by the chip shortage? How do you deal with it?

The impact on small businesses is still relatively large, and many of them have temporarily suspended operations.   Details Published on 2021-12-21 15:14

Recently, small-capacity chips are out of stock and the price is relatively high. You can find some large-capacity chips, which are not too expensive.

Unfortunately, Samsung Electronics of South Korea does not make MCUs now. It has many photolithography machines and only makes memory. If it did, the Taiwanese and European ones would not be so rampant. Domestic manufacturers can show their equipment for producing MCUs. I guess they don't!

Foreign chips are not available, and there are no domestic alternatives. The cost and time of modifying the circuits are unaffordable, so we can only get them from small places.

The chip shortage has caused considerable trouble for downstream manufacturers, with delivery times extended, prices rising, and orders falling sharply.

In fact, whether there is a shortage or not depends on the supply and demand. I have been dealing with high-end chips from Renesas and found that there is not necessarily a shortage.

The impact is too great. All kinds of chips are in short supply. We have been trying to find alternative materials and verifying them every day, but there is still no way to guarantee that they can be used.
