Huawei Hongmeng + Alibaba Pingtouge, Runhe Neptune Review (Part 1) [Copy link]

This post was last edited by James199 on 2021-10-17 18:56

At present, most combinations in the industry are Amazon's FreeRTOS + ARM. This time we will use Huawei Hongmeng to replace FreeRTOS and Alibaba Pingtou Ge to replace ARM.

Let me first briefly introduce Huawei Hongmeng and Alibaba Pingtou Ge

OpenHarmony is an open source project incubated and operated by the OpenAtom Foundation. Its goal is to build a framework and platform for an intelligent terminal device operating system based on open source in an all-scenario, fully connected, and fully intelligent era, and to promote the prosperity and development of the Internet of Things industry.

Pingtouge Semiconductor Co., Ltd. was established on September 19, 2018 and is a wholly-owned semiconductor chip business entity of Alibaba Group. Pingtouge has a full-stack product series that integrates end-to-end cloud and covers data center artificial intelligence chips, processor IP licensing, etc., achieving full coverage of the chip end-to-end design chain.

The Runhe Neptune SoC in this review is a dream combination of Huawei Hongmeng + Alibaba Pingtouge.

This is the first part of the series of reviews, we will first review the development board.

The Neptune package contains 4 parts: Neptune development board, USB to serial port, Dupont cable, and after-sales service guarantee card.

1. Neptune Development Board

Front view, two buttons, one reset button, one programmable function button

Interface details: Type-C replaces micro USB, which is highly praised. You can debug by reusing the Android phone data cable.

Back view: Function pins are all connected

2. USB to Serial

The CH9035 solution is a good thing that the manufacturer has considered it carefully and equipped us with it, but the USB female port makes people crazy

3. Security card, Harmony OS

After connecting to Type-C, the computer will automatically recognize the serial port

Use the serial port tool, use 115200, 8, N, 1 parameters, and you can see the LOG

This is the end of the unboxing review. The next article will review the compilation environment, so stay tuned.

Type-C on open boards replaces micro USB

The Neptune development board is also very small, with few components and a reasonable layout.

It looks like a minimal system, with no special functions. Why does it need a shield? Wouldn't it be better to just solder a microcontroller and see what it looks like?
