[Liquid Level Sensor Evaluation] Capacitive-non-contact sensor response to container media [Copy link]

This post was last edited by jinglixixi on 2021-8-29 10:34

We have previously introduced the use of capacitive non-contact sensors and conducted corresponding tests using plexiglass as the container medium. So what are the requirements and response characteristics of the sensor for the container medium being tested?

From the previous test, we know that the working status of the sensor can be detected by liquid or by finger. In order to simplify the complexity of the test, the finger is directly used instead of the liquid for testing.

1. Plastic pad

Figure 1 Unobstructed state

Figure 2: Occlusion status

From the test, it can be seen that the sensor can detect liquids in plastic containers.

2. Cardboard

Figure 3 Unobstructed state

Figure 4 Occlusion status

From the test, it can be seen that the sensor can detect liquids in cardboard containers.

3. Porcelain bowl

Figure 5 Unobstructed state

Figure 6 Occlusion status

It can be seen from the test that the sensor can detect liquids in ceramic containers.

4. Rubber

Figure 7 Unobstructed state

Figure 8 Occlusion status

It can be seen from the test that the sensor can detect the liquid in the rubber container.

5. Aluminum plate

Figure 9 Unblocked state

From the test, it can be seen that the sensor cannot detect the liquid in the aluminum plate container. If the sensor is used in reverse, the capacitive-non-contact sensor can be used to detect metal objects through the plastic surface!

If sensors are used, capacitive-contactless sensors can be used to detect metal objects through the plastic surface. The author has personally tested it.

That’s actually pretty good, there’s no need to use a transparent container, that’s great!
