MCU appearance, processor-level computing performance,
This new product from TI seems to be very powerful. Are you attracted by it? Do you want to test it?
TI Sitara AM2x MCU combines processor-level computing performance with MCU's easy design, helping engineers realize real-time control, intelligent analysis and network applications. With the new Sitara AM2x series MCU, engineers can use 10 times the computing power of previous flash-based MCUs.
Low-power MCUs with processor-class performance
The AM243x MCU is the first available device in the AM2x family, featuring up to four Arm Cortex-R5F cores, each running at up to 800MHz. This high real-time processing speed is critical in factory equipment such as robots, where fast computing capabilities combined with high-speed access to the MCU's internal memory can help improve both the robot's motion accuracy and speed, thereby increasing productivity. The additional processing power enables designers to further analyze functions such as predictive maintenance, thereby reducing downtime on the factory floor. In a typical application, the AM243x devices can achieve this level of performance while consuming less than 1W of active power, enabling factory operators to extend power supply life and reduce operating costs and energy consumption.
TI's new Sitara AM2x series redefines MCUs
Sitara AM243x MCUs integrate sensing and drive peripherals to enable low-latency real-time processing and control for factory automation, and simplify the implementation of industrial networks through communication acceleration modules. AM243x devices expand TI's support for multiple Gigabit Industrial Ethernet protocols and time-sensitive networks (TSN) to enable next-generation factory networks. With AM243x, engineers can use certified, TI-directed protocol stacks to support EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT, PROFINET, and IO-Link Master, etc. to meet evolving industrial communication standards. The on-chip security features of the AM243x MCU support new encryption requirements, and the integrated functional safety mechanisms, diagnostics, and auxiliary functions can help system integrators achieve the safety integrity level (SIL) 3 requirements of the IEC 61508 standard in their industrial designs.
Simplify high-performance design with easy-to-use tools and software
To reduce the complexity of design and development, TI created the Sitara AM243x LaunchPad development kit to quickly evaluate high-performance MCUs. With the help of evaluation tools and the Sitara MCU+ software framework, developers can immediately start experiencing the precise real-time control and industrial networking capabilities of the AM243x MCU out of the box. Developers can also access application-specific reference examples, a powerful tool and software ecosystem, and the MCU+ Academy training website to simplify design and speed up time to market.
