RP2040 microcontroller chip goes on sale for $1 [Copy link]

Reprinted from: https://www.cnbeta.com/articles/tech/1135269.htm

Earlier this year, the Raspberry Pi Foundation announced the launch of the $4 Raspberry Pi Pico and RP2040 microcontroller for embedded development. Now, the RP2040 chip is being sold through their distributors for only $1 for those who want to build their own electronic products with this Raspberry Pi chip. The

$1 RP2040 chip contains two 133MHz ARM Cortex-M0+ cores that can run software such as FreeRTOS and MicroPython. In addition to these two embedded cores, it also comes with 264KB of memory and support for all common I/O interfaces for this type of controller. The

Raspberry Pi Foundation announced that they have shipped more than 600,000 Raspberry Pi Pico boards this year, and there are orders for another 700,000 waiting to be delivered. At the same time, more creators and other businesses have been looking to build their own products using the RP2040 chip, which allows them to now offer the chip at a single unit sales price as low as $1.

The RP2040 chip is expected to be "available in large quantities" this fall. More details on RP2040 availability are available at RaspberryPi.org.

RP2040 is also one of the few hardware that supports both MicroPython and CircuitPython.

If it is really 1 USD, it is too low compared with the current STM32. Last week, a friend bought an STM32F103, which cost about 200 RMB per piece.  Details Published on 2021-6-2 10:58
