[Domestic digital isolation chip replacement] Nanochip MSI series replaces ADI ADUM and TI IOS series isolation chips [Copy link]

Digital isolation chips are commonly used in industrial control and power supplies.

For example, in power supply design, the power signal needs to be isolated from the control signal to prevent the power signal noise from coupling into the control signal; at the same time, the high-voltage part of the power supply can also be isolated from the control part, so that when the high-voltage part fails, the high voltage that is dangerous to the user will not be introduced into the control part, ensuring the personal safety of the user. In the field of industrial control, the control circuit usually needs to control a variety of devices with high transient currents such as motors and solenoid valves. An effective way to prevent these devices from affecting the control circuit is to use a digital isolator. Similarly, when an electronic circuit needs to communicate with multiple modules, sometimes these modules are not grounded, and the communication module also needs to use an isolation solution. In addition, for longer communication lines, it is easy to couple larger common-mode signals. The use of isolated communication chips can minimize the impact of common-mode signals on communication.

At present, ADI's ADUM series isolation chips and TI's ISO series isolation chips are widely used.

I used ADI's ADUM1400, ADUM1200, and ADUM1250 in my project, which are 4-way, 2-way, and I2C isolators respectively.

After evaluation, we are currently trying to use Nanochip's isolation chips as a replacement. The corresponding specific models are: NSI8140, NSI8120 and NSI8100.

The main performance indicators are as follows:

1. Compatibility: Nanochip's chips can directly replace ADI's ADUM series, and the pins and operating voltage are fully compatible;

2. Isolation voltage: The isolation voltage of the NSI series is not less than 3.75kV, which is higher than the 2.5kV of the ADUM series;

3. Data rate: The data rate of NSI8140/8120 is 150Mbps, which is higher than 90Mbps and 25Mbps of ADUM1400 and 1200. For I2C isolation chips, the data rate of NSI8100 is 2MHz, and the data rate of ADUM1250 is 1MHz.

4. Delay: The maximum delay of NSI8140/8120 does not exceed 10ns, and the maximum delay of ADUM1400 and 1200 are 32ns and 150ns respectively;

5. Cost: Domestic chips clearly have an advantage.

Overall, Naxinwei's isolation chip is indeed very good, with better performance indicators than ADI and a lower price.

I don't know if anyone has used similar chips. I hope we can discuss it together.
