[Raspberry Pi Pico Review] 2. Win7 system cannot install Raspberry Pi Pico serial port driver, but it is successful to replace Win10 [Copy link]

1. Software Download

Go to Thonny official website to download the latest development software

https://thonny.org/

Then download the required version, there are three versions: Windows, Mac, and Linux .

I downloaded the Windows version, and the current version is3.3.6The download address is:

https://github.com/thonny/thonny/releases/download/v3.3.6/thonny-3.3.6.exe

2. Software Installation

Just click Next to install the software .

Then enter the software and choose Simplified Chinese.

Then click "Run" and "Select Interpreter" in the menu bar.

Then I found the problem, the Board CDC driver could not be installed and the newly added COM port of Pico could not be seen .

My system is Win7 64 -bit ghost . I searched online for several methods and none of them worked.

I reinstalled the system again but it didn't work, and I changed to a new Win7 64- bit system but it didn't work either.

After struggling for three days, I lost my temper and switched to Win10 , which finally works well.

Here I would like to remind everyone that the ghost Win7 system may not be able to use Pico .

The CDC virtual serial port driver cannot be installed on WIN7 64 -bit system .

After switching to Win10 , everything worked fine. I started my first LED program and flashed the onboard LED .

Looking at the DataSheet of RP2040, I see that the IO can be set to 2mA , 4mA , 8mA , 12mA . Why are there so many options?

How to set it up specifically? Is there anyone who knows how to do this? Please help me reply.

The ghost version will generally delete (streamline) the serial port (usbser) driver

It would be better to use Win7 Professional or Pure Edition

Back to the above, I later tried the pure version of Win7, and it didn't work either. I guess I can't use the GHOST version, I have to install it with the original version.
