[ESP32-Korvo Review] 05 Development Environment Construction Part 2 [Copy link]

The previous review article explained the construction of the development environment, but it took a long time and failed:

https://en.eeworld.com/bbs/thread-1158940-1-1.html

Today is Friday. I got home early from get off work, turned on my computer after dinner, and prepared to try again. If it still doesn’t work, I’ll just give up.

Before starting, I went to the official website of Espressif to read the user guide, and one description caught my attention.

I quickly checked my python path and found that it was installed in the program files folder directory on the C drive . There happened to be a space, so I uninstalled python and reinstalled it.

After reinstalling Python , run esp-idf-tools-setup-2.3 again to install the tool.

Finally, I came to the download step. After waiting for more than 10 minutes, I successfully downloaded the esp-idf v3.3.4 version (there was no v3.3.1 version in the installation option ). I thought that the installation was successful at this point, but an error message popped up.

Judging from the prompt information, it is impossible to connect to GitHub . It seems that it is related to the network.

After exiting the installer, I tried again a few more times, but it still didn't work.

While I was wondering, I found that the file directory of the esp-idf-tools-setup-2.3 I downloaded was named "迅雷下载" in Chinese, so I copied it to the root directory and ran it again, repeating the previous steps. It seemed that I had moved forward one step and came to this interface.

It was another long wait for the download. When it showed 100% downloaded , I started trying various links again. However, from the real-time information, most of them could not connect to GitHub , and finally an error message popped up.

Ah, I feel like I'm going to collapse. Why is it so tortuous to install an environment? I don't want to play anymore ...

Even if you look it up, it's useless. First install git and python, then follow the IDF integrated installation tutorial under window. As long as the ESP-IDF Command Prompt (cmd.exe) shortcut appears on the desktop, you have succeeded. After that, you can download the SDK from github.   Details Published on 2021-3-15 00:55

I don't know if there's something wrong with my network, or if GitHub has been like this recently. I've set up the DNS and turned off the firewall, but it's still intermittent. I'm speechless.  Details Published on 2021-3-13 17:48

During the installation process, there seems to be an automatic configuration checkbox.

It seems to be a configuration issue

It's not a system problem, right?

All are checked by default. Judging from the installation log information, the main reason is that it cannot connect to GitHub, resulting in failure to download files, and the installation is directly paused and exited.  Details Published on 2021-3-13 22:01

git and python are installed separately. After downloading the ESP-IDF source code package, the IDF one-click installer will also download many small files from GitHub. This step always fails due to network connection failure, resulting in failure to download files, and then the installation is terminated.  Details Published on 2021-3-15 08:43
