Fresh and hot, aircraft cabin pressure and temperature data recorded by SensorTile.box [Copy link]

This post was last edited by littleshrimp on 2020-12-1 11:28

Air pressure data: the air pressure gradually dropped after the plane took off, and gradually rose during landing. I didn't feel any particular discomfort in my ears during this flight. I only felt the sound getting louder after swallowing a few times.

Temperature data, the sensor is placed in the pocket of clothes. The temperature gradually rises after the plane takes off and gradually drops after getting off the plane.

If it is a safety issue, the limit above 500 meters should be set. It may be due to cost constraints for civilian-grade products.   Details Published on 2020-12-1 10:30

If the data is accurate, the highest altitude should be around 1900-2000 meters, which feels a bit low.

There is a pressurization system in the cabin, otherwise people would die.  Details Published on 2020-11-26 23:55

Then the data will be inaccurate and can only be estimated using GPS.  Details Published on 2020-11-26 14:46

I haven't tried whether the GPS can receive the signal. I want to analyze why my ears are particularly uncomfortable during the ascent and descent phases by measuring the air pressure.  Details Published on 2020-11-26 23:56

Near the window, GPS can receive signals in some places. I often turn on GPS to check the track.  Details Published on 2020-11-26 16:20

How did you do that? Aren't electrical devices prohibited on airplanes?

Wow, some people are using electronic devices on airplanes, and they are using them quite well.

Comments

Now more and more airlines allow the use of electronic devices with flight mode during cruising, but it depends on the situation for homemade electronic devices. The flight attendants may intervene if they see it. The OP is obviously using it in a hidden way.  Details Published on 2020-11-27 15:20

At cruising altitude, the cabin pressure of today's aircraft corresponds to about 2,000 meters. Of course, this also depends on the pilot's parameter settings. The cabin pressure is set by the airline according to the nature of the flight and must comply with the laws and regulations of the relevant country in the flight area.

GPS can be used to know the current altitude and position of the aircraft, but it cannot know the air pressure inside and outside the cabin.

Comments

Use GPS to measure altitude. I have tried it before, but the general GPS cannot measure altitude when the altitude exceeds a certain range.  Details Published on 2020-11-27 00:05

It may be that the software of the GPS in the finished product you are using limits the unlikely values. If you use the module to build the system yourself, it should not be the case. If there is a limitation, it will be mentioned in the module manual.  Details Published on 2020-11-30 12:11

I will take it out and check the indicator light status when I have nothing to do. This small device does not send radio frequency signals when working. All the hardware is provided by ST. The lithium battery capacity is not large. It is a regular manufacturer and there is no danger.  Details Published on 2020-11-30 12:14

I also discovered this problem when I tested it later. At the beginning, the altitude was displayed. Later, the plane began to climb to more than 9 kilometers. After a while, when I turned on the GPS again, the altitude would not be displayed.

There are many restrictions at the civilian level. I don’t know if Beidou has any restrictions. It is said that domestic GPS data now uses algorithms to add offsets.  Details Published on 2020-11-30 15:29
