AWR1843BOOST mmw demo operation guide (Part 1) [Copy link]

Author: Meichen An/Chris Meng

a. Hardware equipment:

  • Taking AWR1843BOOST RevC as an example, it can also be used as a reference for running mmw demo on other millimeter wave evaluation boards.
  • 5V3A power supply
  • USB cable

b. Software environment:

  • mmWave SDK (taking mmwave_sdk_03_04_00_03 as an example)

Download link: https://software-dl.ti.com/ra-processors/esd/MMWAVE-SDK/latest/index_FDS.html

  • XDS110 driver (install one of the following two software)
    • Code Composer Studio (CCS 9.3 or above, taking CCS10.1.0 as an example)

Download link: https://software-dl.ti.com/ccs/esd/documents/ccs_downloads.html

(You can choose between Custom Installation and Full Installation as the installation method. After selecting Custom Installation, be sure to check mmWave Sensors in the Select Components step.)

    • XDS Emulation Software 7.0.188.0 or above

Download link: https://software-dl.ti.com/ccs/esd/documents/xdsdebugprobes/emu_xds_software_package_download.html

  • Uniflash (Use UNIFLASH_ 6.0.0.2710 offline version as an example)

Link: https://www.ti.com/tool/UNIFLASH

You can also use the online version of Uniflash, link https://dev.ti.com/uniflash

Note: Try to use the default path for software installation, and make sure the custom path does not contain Chinese characters or spaces.

Note: During the installation process, relevant drivers will be installed to ensure successful installation.

c. Operation steps:

3.1 Burn mmv demo to AWR1843BOOST

a. Set SOP0-2 on the AWR1843BOOST board to 1, 0, 1 respectively. Then connect the computer via USB and turn on the 5V power supply, as shown in Figure 1. In the computer's device manager, you can see User UART and DATA PORT, which correspond to COM4 and COM3 respectively (the corresponding port numbers may vary on different computers), as shown in Figure 2.
