The difference between various chips in TI's CC series: CC2430 CC1100 [Copy link]

When using CC series chips, it is often difficult to choose among various models. Here are the parameters and differences of each model. Many chips will perform better in different fields.


CC1101/CC1100

The frequency used is 433M. Of course, for China, CC1101 itself supports 300-348M, 387-467M, 779-928M. Subspecies supports 400M and 2.4G. Hong Kong supports 900M.

CC1101 is an upgraded version of CC1100. It optimizes the wireless part, improves the spurious response, and inputs programs compatible with 1100. It does not have an MCU, it is a pure wireless transmission chip, and uses SPI control. The operating range is -40C to 80 degrees, which needs to be verified. If we calculate it as half, that is, -20C-70C, it should be fine. It is an industrial-grade chip.

Another point to mention is that the power of CC1101 is 2DB higher than CC1100, reaching 12DBM. It is the chip that can transmit very far without PA, and the distance is about 200-300M. If you get too close, the input will be saturated and no data can be received.

The current is 14.7mA when receiving and 15mA when sending using 0dBM. If 12dBM is used, it will reach 30mA. The receiving sensitivity is -113dBm, which refers to the situation in the environment of 1.2k rate.

The rate of CC1101 itself is adjustable between 1.2K-500K, and the modulation modes include FSK/GFSK/MSK/ASK/OOK.

CC1100E

I won't introduce the special frequency bands of 470M and 950M, and the rest is the same as CC1101.

CC1110

This chip is actually equivalent to 8051+CC1100. Its integrated MCU is a major advantage. It has common functions such as ADC, SPI, I2C, UART, etc.

Built-in FLASH is optional for 8/16/32k. Designed for low power consumption, power consumption can reach 0.3uA in deep sleep. The frequency range is the same as CC1100. The wireless performance is also the same as CC1100.

CC2510

It can be said that this model is very close to CC1110, but the frequency used is different, using 2.4G frequency.

The kernel uses an enhanced 8051 kernel, 8-32K FLASH, and 4K RAM.

However, the wireless part uses 0DBM power, so the distance is indeed close. The distance is only 30-50M, and the single-shot distance is far, but it is not very meaningful.

CC2430

In terms of hardware, compared with CC2510, it has 128K FLASH and 8K RAM, but this is a chip that supports the ZIGBEE protocol stack, which is something that other chips cannot do. I will not introduce the chip core. Except for the difference in FLASH and RAM, everything else is the same as CC1110.

It supports ZIGBEE2006 protocol stack and was launched relatively early. The wireless speed is limited to 250K. Because of the power of 0DBM, the distance is only 30-50M. It is considered an early product.

CC2530

TI's later product, now mainly promoted by TI's ZIGBEE. TI no longer recommends the use of CC2430.

2530 has made great improvements on the basis of 2430. The biggest improvement is the improvement of ZIGBEE protocol stack. The whole protocol stack has been upgraded, and both stability and reliability have been improved. The rate is still 250K, the power is increased to 4.5DBm, the transmission channel has been modified, and the registers have been changed accordingly, so ZIGBEE2006 protocol stack is no longer used on 2530.

The 2007 protocol stack has greatly improved networking, re-networking, data transmission, and the number of nodes. It can be said that the value of 2530 is not due to itself, but more because of the ZIGBEE protocol stack.

CC2520

It is a bit similar to CC1100 pure transmission chip, but it is a single transmission chip that supports ZIGBEE protocol stack. MSP430 writes protocol stack + CC2520 as transmission. Of course, in this case, ZIGBEE protocol stack is easy to transplant. This is its biggest highlight.
