High Speed Differential ADC Driver Design Guidelines

Most modern high-performance ADCs use differential inputs to suppress common-mode noise and interference. This approach can improve overall system performance by 2x by using balanced signal processing. Although differential input ADCs can also accept single-ended input signals, optimal ADC performance can only be achieved when differential input signals are used. So why do differential ADC drivers become an indispensable signal conditioning component in data acquisition systems? (See eBook "High-Speed Circuit Design Guide" page 16)

High-speed ADC PCB layout rules

  • Should the AGND and DGND ground planes be separated?
  • In the PDS design of PCB, how can squeezing the power layer and ground layer together provide additional capacitance?
  • How to achieve optimal performance and heat dissipation in signal chain design through clever exposed pad (E-Pad) design?
  • Still confused about the cross-coupling problem between layers in PCB?
For detailed explanation of the above questions, please refer to page 103 of the eBook "High-Speed Circuit Design Guide".

Power Supply Design for High-Speed ADC
This section describes the techniques used to measure the rejection of a converter's AC power supply, thereby establishing a baseline for the converter's power supply noise sensitivity. We will perform a simple noise analysis on an actual power supply and show how to apply these values to your design to verify that the power supply meets the requirements of the selected converter. In summary, this section will describe some simple guidelines to give you some guidance to help you design power supplies for high-speed converters. (See the eBook "High Speed Circuit Design Guide" page 57)

ADI Think Tank's latest secret book "High-Speed Circuit Design Guide" is 100+ pages long, ranging from the connotation of high-speed converters to power supply design, and then to PCB wiring layout techniques. I hope that the key points of knowledge explained in this book can help you understand more techniques for high-speed circuit design.
