Simply put, it uses field strength to do triangular positioning. For a specific positioning node, the signal strength sent by the positioning node received by the receiver, i.e. the terminal to be positioned, is related to the distance, which means that the distance to the positioning node is roughly known. If there are at least two positioning nodes, the distance between the terminal and the two nodes is known respectively.

If the distance is too close, it is no problem, but the signal saturation will increase the error. If the distance is too far, no signal will be received, and positioning is naturally impossible. Mobile communication base stations can also be used.
