I work in Jinan, Shandong. I got my social security card in 2015 from the Bank of China.

Later, I changed jobs and went to Zhangqiu District in Jinan. Although it belongs to Jinan, it is equivalent to the suburbs.

When going to the city, they all say they are going to Jinan. Once when I went to a pharmacy to buy medicine, my social security card could not be swiped.

Later I asked around and found out that the social security card had been changed to a blue one.

I got a new social security card, but once I went to Jinan for medical treatment, Qilu Hospital,

After I came back, I went to a hospital in Zhangqiu and tried it, and it worked.

I was very confused as to why it could only be used in one area. I asked the boss, but he said he didn't know.

My colleague also said that the social security card can only be used in Zhangqiu. What's going on? Isn't it connected to the Internet?

Should I ask the bank or the social security office for this matter? Please advise, thank you!

Just ask them all, but give priority to the Social Security Office.

Now the medical insurance card cannot be used nationwide . The use of medical insurance cards is limited to the place where the insurance is obtained.

You should consult your local social security department.

There should be a phone number on the back of your card; just ask.

The current social security card policies are different in each place. For example, the reimbursement ratios for Harbin’s provincial medical insurance and municipal medical insurance are different.

However, the pharmacies here all have two sets of card swiping equipment, and some even have three sets (provincial medical insurance, municipal medical insurance, and railway medical insurance)

Personally, I feel it is very confusing. When this medical insurance system was first established, people probably thought that you would retire where you work, and they did not consider that some future changes would be so great.

I hope that the entire country can use ID cards as medical insurance cards, with the ID number being the same as the medical insurance number. This would save a lot of trouble.

It is true. My medical insurance is in a prefecture-level city, which means there are several cities around my home. I signed up for insurance at my workplace, but I cannot use it when I go home (in the next city). However, I can use the rural medical insurance, but the reimbursement rate is relatively low.
