Need help choosing safer lithium batteries? [Copy link]

Because I often hear about mobile phone battery explosions, I am very worried about lithium batteries.

But the circuit involves the use of white light LEDs, which have a voltage drop of more than 3V. If ordinary nickel-metal hydride or dry batteries are used, wouldn’t more than three batteries be needed? It feels unreliable, so I can only use lithium batteries. And they need to be charged.

But I have been hesitant about which one to choose.

I looked up GP Speedmaster and Delip (I'm not saying these are so good, it's just that I buy them for my own use and I've seen these brands a lot, so naturally I think they are relatively better).

But later I checked and found that the more well-known domestic lithium battery manufacturers have nothing to do with Dellip.

The most famous one found is

Bick

Power God

EVE

These, but these, not to mention that I can't find this 16340 size single battery on JD.com or Taobao, I haven't seen any related product introductions on their official website. I found that most of their products are lithium battery packs for rechargeable cars.

Because the thing we are preparing to make now also has a certain batch size, although it is not particularly large, it is not small either.

Moreover, size is a product, and safety cannot be ignored. You can’t just buy a Delip or something like that like a person.

So, I would like to ask the omnipotent forum friends if you have any recommendations on purchasing lithium batteries?

18650 refers to the size of the battery. What determines the properties and performance characteristics of a lithium battery is the internal positive electrode material. For example, 18650-3.2V1.5Ah refers to a cylindrical lithium iron phosphate battery with a diameter of 18mm and a height of 65mm. Its nominal voltage is 3.2V and its nominal capacity is 1.5Ah. It is a thermally stable and relatively safe type of lithium battery currently available. There are also ternary 18650 lithium batteries such as nickel-cobalt-manganese and nickel-cobalt-aluminum. The energy density of these batteries is higher than that of lithium iron phosphate, but their safety and thermal stability are not as good as those of lithium iron phosphate. All comparisons are based on the same processing and manufacturing level.   Details Published on 2020-5-8 09:59

Lithium batteries used in electronic products are designed to be safe by using battery protection circuits.

Of course, the quality and safety of lithium batteries must be guaranteed, and that is the brand's business.

If you don't have any used 16340 battery manufacturers, you can find them on Alibaba.

Recommended samples are also required for trial

Mobile phone batteries don’t explode often. The most common problems are bulging and false capacity.

The author of the post is really overly concerned about the safety of lithium batteries. The safety of lithium batteries themselves is quite good, otherwise they would not have become the main battery in today's electronic products. Judging from the accident rate of lithium batteries, the probability is much lower than the probability of winning the first prize by buying a lottery ticket for 2 yuan. Moreover, the lithium battery accidents are often related to poor quality chargers/power adapters or mechanical structure damage. As long as you pay attention to the design of the charging circuit and battery protection circuit and ensure that the battery is not easily damaged by machinery, the safety of lithium batteries can be completely assured, and it is even safer than the AC power supply itself. The biggest problem of lithium battery cells from small manufacturers is capacity and charge and discharge cycle life. The surface cheapness does not necessarily mean the cheapness of the product throughout its life cycle, so you should choose products from regular manufacturers. Before giving specific suggestions, the author of the post should first determine the required lithium battery voltage (number of cells), capacity and external dimensions, and also pay attention to the discharge current and operating temperature range.

Everything has a probability, and the accident rate of lithium batteries is basically the same as the probability of you being hit by a car while walking on the street.

Yes, thanks

After I took a look at it, I basically decided on a main idea.

In addition to the specifications you mentioned, when choosing

I want to ensure safety and quality through two things

One is to find big manufacturers - such as the ones mentioned above, Yiwei, you can find their original factories on 1688, found them before the holiday.

Another thing is to try to find a product of the 16850 type, but in a smaller size, mainly because 16850 is a very mature product.

As for lithium-ion or polymer lithium-ion, it doesn't seem to matter much.
