I have a question, STM32 drives a three-phase DC brushless controller to drive a DC brushless motor with Hall

The interface of the three-phase DC brushless controller is shown in the figure.
The control port (left side) has a hole spacing of 2.0:
5V - the control board outputs 5V internally, which can provide a current of <300MA to the outside.
EL - brake control port, reactive linear brake, with energy recovery function, analog voltage brake 0-5V. When the speed is constant,
the higher the brake voltage, the greater the braking force 0-100%.
M - speed signal output port, the pulse frequency is proportional to the motor speed (the pulse ratio is related to the motor)
Z/F - forward and reverse control port. Hard commutation, connect 5V or hang in the air to rotate in one direction, connect GND to rotate in the other direction.
VR - speed control port, analog voltage speed regulation 0V-5V (0-2.5V) speed regulation, linear speed regulation from low to high. External PWM speed regulation needs to be grounded with the driver board
.
GND - internal ground of the control board.
The control signal interface is connected to the MCU with only one VR to control the speed, and does it not need to be commutated?
