With the official release of AirPods 2, the well-known disassembly team iFixit published a disassembly report on this true wireless headset. iFixit gave AirPods 2 a repairability score of zero, which means that if the headset does not work properly, it cannot be repaired by disassembling it.
The weight of AirPods 2 is the same as the previous generation, both at 4g. The storage box that supports wireless charging has increased by 2.3g compared to the previous generation, but Apple did not increase the capacity of the built-in battery in the new storage box, which still maintains the same 398mAh as the previous generation. In addition to the above differences, the new storage box also has a new internal design. The built-in logic board is more integrated than the previous generation, and supports wireless charging. Surprisingly, Apple also coated the logic board with a waterproof coating. This design, combined with the storage box's extensive use of glue to fix it, gives AirPods 2 a certain degree of waterproofing for daily use. As for the internal structure design of the AirPods 2 headphones, it is basically the same as the previous generation, and a large amount of glue is also used to fix the dynamic unit, antenna, battery and microphone. The battery capacity of the headphone part is also the same as the previous generation, both 93mAh. After the disassembly of AirPods 2 was completed, iFixit said that while the internal structure design of the earphones is similar to that of the previous generation, it also inherits the "tradition" of requiring violent destruction to be completely disassembled. Considering that the new storage box uses a lot of glue to fix it and the built-in logic board is waterproof, it can be used safely on rainy days.
