Overview

This document is an engineering report describing a 133 W power supply using the TOP261EN as the primary power supply and the TNY279PN as the backup power supply. This power supply is intended as a universal evaluation platform for LCD TV applications. The SUPERLIPS TV architecture powers the CCFL backlight via an AC connected inverter. Auxiliary and backup power is also required to power the control circuitry, audio output, and to power the TV in sleep mode. This report describes the design of backup and auxiliary power supplies. This power supply is designed to operate at 108 to 132 VAC (North America). It is equipped with a voltage doubler on the input to boost the voltage (high line design eliminates the voltage doubler and operates in the 176 to 264 VRMS range). The operating input range is 305 to 375 VDC (2x peak rectified AC input) when the input voltage backup source is located after the voltage doubler circuit. This document contains power supply specifications, schematics, bill of materials, transformer documentation, printed circuit layout and performance data.
