8038 based waveform generator

 
Overview

##### With the electronic competition approaching, this module is designed to practice the microcontroller's waveform collection and processing of different signal sources. The most cost-effective waveform generator that is very commonly used is what I call an oscilloscope, which is a small module that can display typical waveforms.

##### Although ICL 8038 has gone through a long time, it is still a classic waveform generator circuit. And because there was no SMD packaging for a long time, only direct plug-in packages were found. Other components are simplified into chip packages. 8038 is a precision oscillation integrated circuit with multiple waveform outputs. It can generate low-distortion sine waves, triangle waves, rectangular waves and other pulse signals from 0.001HZ to 300kHz by simply adjusting individual external components. The frequency and duty cycle of the output waveform can also be controlled by current or resistance.

##### This circuit uses the special integrated circuit ICL8038 as the signal source. The functions of the ICL8038 pins are: (1, 12 feet) sine wave waveform adjustment terminal; (2 feet) sine wave output; (3 feet) triangle wave output ; (4, 5 feet) frequency and duty cycle adjustment; (6 feet) V+, positive power supply; (7 feet) frequency offset; (8 feet) frequency adjustment input terminal; (9 feet) square wave output terminal, this pin The pin is an open collector output. A pull-up resistor should be connected to the positive power supply terminal during operation. If a square wave compatible with TTL is required, the pull-up resistor needs to be connected to the +5V power supply; (pin 10) timing capacitor terminal; (pin 11) V-, the negative power supply terminal or ground. When using a positive and negative dual power supply, pin 11 is connected to the negative Power supply, the output waveform is symmetrical relative to 0V, uses a single positive power supply, pin 11 is connected to ground, the output waveform is unipolar, the average voltage is V+/2; (pins 13, 14) are empty.

##### The designed frequency range of this module is 10KHz-450KHz, which is divided into 5 frequency bands. Use jumper J2 to switch. RP1 is frequency adjustment, RP2 is square wave duty cycle adjustment, RP3 is square wave linear adjustment, RP4 It is the sine wave distortion adjustment, and RP5 is the output amplitude adjustment. The circuit can be powered by a 12-24V single power supply and is input by J1. J4 is the waveform output terminal, of which pin 1 outputs a DC voltage component and pin 2 outputs a pure waveform. The type of output waveform can be switched with jumper J3.
