AD automatically adds test points [Copy link]

邀请:@okhxyyo   @btty038   参与回复

I would like to ask how to automatically add test points to the whole board in AD? The current method is rather clumsy. For example, for 20 networks, I first copy 20 test point pads, then add networks, and then move the test points to the corresponding nets one by one.
Imagine letting AD automatically add test points. First, add a pad. Can I specify it as a test point in the design rule? Then assign the test point in the test point manager?
Or are there other methods?
Thank you for sharing your guidance.

Automatically add test points? This is indeed as mentioned above. The software cannot automatically determine which networks need to add test points. First, you have to tell the software which networks need to add test points. First, you need to set up the Design-Desing rules to confirm which networks need to add test points. I don't have any software installed on my computer, so I just found some pictures online for your reference. There may be some differences between different versions. Then go to the test point management to set it up Tools----Testpoint Manager   Details Published on 2021-9-29 09:52

I haven't used the automatic settings yet, I have always done it manually. See if you have done this. You can try searching for previous posts in the PCB section of the forum. I remember there was a special discussion. Try to find it.

The test points must be distributed in different network nets and laid out in different positions of the PCB board. If so, add nodes to the network net where the schematic diagram is located. These nodes are packaged as a test point, such as a pad, and these test points are named with a unified serial number.

When generating the PCB, these test pads are laid out one by one according to your needs.

And it can be easily found on the schematic diagram, and a certain mark is used as a test point. The schematic diagram can be communicated to others, or future generations of the company can also understand it clearly.

How can it be automatic? The software is not so intelligent. How can the software understand the test points on your net?

When using Zuken software in the past, you could specify pads as test points on the board. Then the software could automatically add test points to each network on the board globally. If it couldn't be added automatically, it wouldn't be added. It's a bit like automatic wiring. Now you can find this function in AD. Test points can be assigned in the testpoint manager, but the logic seems to be that there is a test pad in the PCB first, and then it is designated as a test point, rather than directly adding a test pad to this network.
