Next-generation iPad Pro to be released this fall: supports MagSafe charging function

That's according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, who expects the next-generation iPad Pro to launch this fall.

Gurman speculated in his Power on newsletter that since Apple didn't unveil a new iPad Pro at its event this month, it's reasonable to now expect the new models to arrive between September and November of this year. In a previous report, Gurman said Apple is planning "the wildest slate of new hardware products in its history" for fall 2022, and that slate of new products now looks likely to include updated ‌iPad Pro‌ models.

As MacRumors points out, iPad Pro‌ models were launched in March 2016, June 2017, October 2018, March 2020, and April 2021, meaning Apple appears to take between 13 and 16 months to refresh its product line.

Gurman's expectations seem to indicate that this year's ‌iPad Pro‌ may be on the market for longer, possibly as long as 19 months after the current model is released. This also means that the current 2021 ‌iPad‌ Pro may be one of the longest-lasting models to date.

Gurman expects the new ‌iPad Pro‌ models to come with MagSafe charging, as well as an "M2" chip. The M2 chip is expected to have the same 8-core processor as the ‌M1‌, but will benefit from improved performance and efficiency thanks to TSMC's 4nm process. It's also rumored that this model will also come with additional graphics processor cores, with 9-core and 10-core graphics processor options instead of the 7-core and 8-core graphics processor options in the ‌M1‌ chip.
