In addition to the high cost, the yield rate of roll-up screen mobile phones is low, which is also an important factor that keeps the product price high. "Although the roll-up screen is expected to be mass-produced in the next two or three years, the difficulty of mass production is estimated to be similar to that of the folding screen, and the overall yield rate may not be very high. The main reason is that it has not yet been mass-produced, and production requires a yield rate increase. Relatively speaking, the folding screen has gone through this process." The above person emphasized.

However, OPPO officials are optimistic about the yield rate. OPPO hardware structure engineer Jin Xiang pointed out that the OPPO X 2021 scroll screen concept phone can currently reach the level of 100,000. Calculated based on 50 times of opening and closing a day, the product can be used for 50 years, and 100,000 times is not the limit, and it is still under testing.

In addition, another difficulty faced by scroll screen phones is the support problem behind the screen. When the scroll screen is unfolded, it is necessary not only to ensure the smoothness and stability of the picture, but also to ensure that the force generated by the user's touch can be stably supported. If there is no stable support solution, the screen will be greatly damaged.

Industry insiders pointed out that folding screens and rollable screens are essentially flexible screens. Although rollable screen phones will not have crease problems, they are restricted by the immaturity of CPI and UTG cover technology. The products currently released are also a compromise between body portability and as large a screen size as possible. There is no better solution yet.

As mentioned earlier, although creases and heavy volume are effectively avoided, issues such as price, yield, screen support, and software adaptation all hinder the mass production of scroll screens. However, with the maturity of upstream material technology and the gradual improvement of flexible screen yields, scroll screens with both small size and large display area are likely to be a new trend in the development of mobile phone screens in the future. Looking to the future, the form of "future mobile phones" based on flexible screen technology will not stop there.
