The world's first inactivated COVID-19 vaccine and the world's first 128-layer QLC three-dimensional flash memory chip were successfully developed. 26,000 new 5G macro base stations were built. The "optical core, screen, terminal and network" industrial cluster accelerated its rise, and the number of market entities increased to 5.71 million.

It is reported that in 2021, Hubei will build a high-level innovation platform. Focusing on optoelectronic science, aerospace technology, biological breeding and other fields, it will accelerate the construction of 6 Hubei laboratories. It will strive to have advantageous fields such as optics and biology included in the national basic discipline research centers. It will also focus on the construction of 33 industrial technology research institutes.

Implement the industrial chain and supply chain improvement project. Carry out collaborative research on key industrial chains such as integrated circuits, new displays, and smart terminals, and strive to make new breakthroughs in the fields of fiber lasers, high-end display panels, high-precision real-time remote sensing, and high-end medical equipment. Promote the construction of key industrial supply chain platforms. Implement the leading enterprise plan to accelerate the cultivation of single champions, hidden champions, and "small giant" enterprises. Continue to implement the small and medium-sized enterprise growth project, and strive to add more than 1,000 industrial enterprises above designated size.

Implement the strategic emerging industry doubling plan. Accelerate the construction of four national strategic emerging industry clusters and four national industrial bases. Promote the construction of major projects such as Huaxing Optoelectronics T4, Mindray Medical, Huada Intelligent Manufacturing, and China (Hubei) Network Audiovisual Industry Park. Promote the commissioning and full production of 43 key projects with an expected output value of more than 1 billion yuan. Strive to increase the operating income of the "optical core, screen, terminal and network" industry by more than 100 billion yuan. Vigorously implement the digital economy leapfrogging project and promote the deep integration of artificial intelligence, big data, the Internet of Things, blockchain and other industries. Accelerate the construction of "two zones and one base" and build a number of digital economy demonstration zones. Support Wuhan and Xiangyang to create national-level Internet of Vehicles pilot zones.
