The China Mobile Alliance celebrates its tenth anniversary and its first annual meeting will be held!

In 2021, the China Mobile Alliance will celebrate its tenth anniversary, and the annual meeting of the China Mobile Alliance will be held for the first time on January 5!

On April 22, 2011, triggered by Nokia's lawsuit against Huaqin for patent infringement and other incidents, the China Mobile Alliance was established under the guidance of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. It is hoped that the establishment of the alliance will promote cooperation and sharing among industry chain companies in the field of intellectual property rights, so as to accelerate the rapid development of China's mobile phone industry.

Although there have been few major events and few media reports in the past decade, there is no doubt that the China Mobile Alliance is one of the most active and recognized industry alliances in the past decade:

From 2011 to 2014, the alliance organized more than 40 mobile phone manufacturers to conduct multiple rounds of legal consultations with Nokia, Ericsson and others.

In 2015, we reported and cooperated with the National Development and Reform Commission in conducting antitrust investigations against Qualcomm and IDC;

In 2016, a report was submitted to the Ministry of Finance on behalf of mobile phone companies to reflect the impact of environmental protection taxes on the industry.

From 2017 to 2020, we assisted the Ministry of Commerce in the concentration review of Qualcomm's acquisition of NXP; assisted the State Administration for Market Regulation in the antitrust investigation of Samsung, Micron, and Hynix DRAM; and reported Ericsson's suspected monopoly to the State Administration for Market Regulation.

The alliance's ten years have not only witnessed the rise of China's mobile phone industry, but also witnessed the growth of Chinese mobile phones in the field of intellectual property. According to the 2020 Global Wireless Communication Network Technology Invention Patent Ranking jointly released by IPRdaily Chinese and incoPat Innovation Index Research Center, four Chinese companies are on the TOP10 list, with Huawei ranking first, OPPO third, ZTE and VIVO ranked eighth and ninth respectively, and Xiaomi ranked 14th. Chinese mobile phone brands have made great progress in communications industry patents in the past decade.

With the deepening development of the new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation, the role of intellectual property as a strategic resource for innovative development and a core element of international competitiveness has become more prominent.

On August 4, 2020, the State Council issued a notice on the issuance of "Several Policies to Promote the High-Quality Development of the Integrated Circuit Industry and the Software Industry in the New Era". Article 27 of the notice pointed out that the integrated circuit and software intellectual property protection system should be strictly implemented, and the intensity of punishment for intellectual property infringement and illegal acts should be increased.

The past decade has been the golden decade for China's mobile phone industry, and the next decade will be the golden decade for China's mobile phone industry chain and semiconductor industry. The China Mobile Alliance will continue to work with industry peers to promote collaboration and development of intellectual property rights in the industry chain.

At 13:30 on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, the annual meeting of the China Mobile Alliance will be held in Shenzhen for the first time. The annual meeting will invite the heads of intellectual property rights of companies such as OPPO, VIVO, Xiaomi, Transsion, and TCL to jointly discuss and make progress together to help companies reduce intellectual property risks and costs, and lead and drive technological innovation across the entire industry chain.
